British police report that seven men suspected of terrorist activity have been arrested after law enforcement agents found illegal weapons in their vehicle. As millions are expected to travel to the United Kingdom for the Summer Olympic Games, the British government is tightening up security in London and outlying areas.
"We have been looking at the issue of security at the Olympics for some time and we have robust plans in place," Steve Field, spokesman for Prime Minister David Cameron, told The Associated Press.
During a routine automobile search, law enforcement impounded the vehicle because it had no insurance and found a number of firearms and other materials that are currently undergoing forensic testing.
This latest round of arrests comes just one day after six men were arrested near London's Olympic Park, and police say that none of the men were planning attacks during the Games, nor were they linked to the London raids.
Currently, British officials believe an attack may be a strong possibility, ranking the terror scale at substantial.
